Rosemont Haven in the Queenstown Community

A Boutique Hotel · Alpine Dining · On-site Entertainment

Rosemont Haven Queenstown is deeply committed to being a positive and active member of the local community. We believe that our success as a boutique hotel and entertainment venue is tied to the well-being of the Otago region.

By partnering with local businesses, supporting regional events, and adhering to strict responsible hospitality standards, we strive to contribute to the unique character and sustainability of Queenstown.

This page outlines how we work with Otago suppliers, how we train our staff, and how our physical licensed venue operates as part of the Beach Street neighbourhood — not as an isolated business, but as a contributor to the place that makes our work possible.

Our Role on Beach Street

A physical hotel and entertainment venue for guests 18 and over. We employ local people, buy from Otago producers, and sit alongside our neighbours on one of Queenstown's busiest streets.

Section One — Local Sourcing

Otago Producers, Farmers, and Artisans

01 — Kitchen

We prioritise local suppliers for the ingredients in our kitchen. Otago farmers and growers provide the seasonal produce on our restaurant menu, which means our dishes reflect what is actually growing in the region at any given time of year. This keeps our menu honest and gives our kitchen team a direct relationship with the people who grow what they cook.

02 — Cellar

Our bar list features wines from Central Otago vineyards and spirits from regional distillers. By partnering with local winemakers, we ensure our guests experience the true character of the region's cellar — not a generic national portfolio. Our bar staff can tell you which Gibbston or Bannockburn vineyard produced the Pinot Noir in your glass.

03 — Suites

The artwork in our suites comes from regional craftspeople, not from a catalogue. We work with Otago-based artists and furniture makers so that our rooms feel like they belong in Queenstown rather than in any hotel anywhere. This approach supports the local economy, reduces the environmental cost of shipping, and gives our guests something they will not find in another town.

Section Two — Events

Supporting Queenstown's Social Calendar

Throughout the year, Rosemont Haven is a proud supporter of local festivals and social initiatives. Whether it is providing accommodation for event organisers or hosting official gatherings in our Alpine Bar, we are active participants in the city's social calendar.

We believe these events are vital to the character of Queenstown. When a regional festival runs, the whole town benefits — from the suppliers who feed the crowds to the businesses that host visitors. We see our role as practical: a room for a visiting performer, a bar space for an organisers' meeting, a venue for a community reception.

Our events team works directly with local organisers to understand what each festival needs, rather than offering a fixed sponsorship package. If you are organising a Queenstown event and need a venue partner, please reach out to our community liaison — the details are at the bottom of this page.

Section Three — Environment & People

Protecting the Mountains, Training Our People

Environmental Stewardship

Protecting the natural beauty of the Southern Alps is a responsibility we take seriously. Rosemont Haven implements sustainable practices within our daily operations, such as waste reduction programs and energy-efficient systems throughout the building on Beach Street.

We encourage our guests to explore the region responsibly and provide information on how they can minimise their footprint during their stay in the mountains. Our front desk can point you to local trails, transport options, and operators who follow the same standards we hold ourselves to.

Employment and Training

We are a significant employer in the local hospitality sector, providing professional opportunities for residents of Queenstown and the surrounding areas. Rosemont Haven invests in the growth of its team, offering training in high-end service, host responsibility, and venue management.

Many of our staff have been with us for years, reflecting our commitment to creating a stable and rewarding workplace. We see staff retention as a sign that we are doing the job properly — a team that stays is a team that knows the venue, the region, and the guests.

Section Four — Responsible Gaming

Responsible Gaming in the Community

As a physical licensed venue, we work closely with local and national organisations to promote responsible gaming. Our commitment to host responsibility is at the core of our operations at 8 Beach Street.

On-site Only

Our gaming lounge and on-site casino floor operate on the premises only. No online wagering, remote betting, or internet gambling is offered or promoted. Entry is restricted to guests aged 18 and over with valid photo ID.

Support Services

We provide funding and on-site resources for support services, ensuring that our entertainment facilities contribute positively to the community. Our staff are trained to recognise when a guest may need help and to provide information about the New Zealand Gambling Helpline — 0800 654 655.

Host Responsibility

Every team member in our bar and gaming lounge completes host responsibility training. We track this internally and refresh it regularly, because a licensed venue is only as good as the people working the floor on any given night.

No Remote Play

If you have questions about how our gaming lounge operates or about our responsible play policies, we welcome you to speak with our duty manager on site or read our Venue Etiquette guide.

Charitable Contributions

Rosemont Haven Queenstown regularly supports local charities and non-profit organisations through donations and event hosting. We focus on initiatives that benefit the Otago region — search and rescue services, youth development programs, and environmental conservation projects.

Collaborative Marketing

We work alongside other Queenstown tourism operators to promote the region as a world-class destination. By collaborating on marketing initiatives and cross-referring guests, we help ensure that all sectors of the local economy thrive — not just our own venue.

Open Communication

Maintaining a positive relationship with our neighbours in the Beach Street area is a priority. We have established clear channels to address any concerns regarding our operations, so that issues are handled directly and quickly rather than through a chain of intermediaries.

New Zealand Hospitality

As a boutique venue, we see ourselves as ambassadors for New Zealand's hospitality industry. We uphold the values of Manaakitanga — hospitality and care — providing a warm and professional welcome to all who visit us from near or far.
