Rosemont Haven Queenstown · Alpine Dining & Bar
Alpine Dining & The Rosemont Haven Bar
The dining experience at Rosemont Haven Queenstown is an exploration of New Zealand's Southern Alps. Our restaurant and bar serve as the social heart of the venue, offering a sophisticated space for guests to gather before or after visiting our gaming lounge.
We focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients prepared with a modern twist, accompanied by an extensive cellar of regional wines from the Gibbston Valley and Bannockburn subregions.
Whether you settle in for a full evening in the dining room or prefer a late-night glass at the bar, the kitchen and cellar remain active throughout service. The atmosphere is designed to feel welcoming at any hour.

From the Otago Region
Local Producers & Seasonality
Our kitchen team works directly with farmers and artisans across the Otago region to source the freshest ingredients at their peak. From high-country lamb raised on the slopes near Lake Wanaka to Bluff oysters in season and freshwater trout from the southern lakes, the menu shifts with what the land and water provide.
This commitment to local sourcing means every plate at Rosemont Haven reflects the season — root vegetables and slow braises through winter, stone fruit and river trout in summer. We change dishes as produce comes into its best, not on a fixed calendar. Our suppliers include small growers in the Gibbston Valley, a family-run butcher in Arrowtown, and a specialist cheese maker in Central Otago whose aged cheddar appears across our small plates.
If you want to know where a specific dish comes from, ask your server. They can tell you the farm, the grower, and often the week the produce was harvested.
Wood-Fired & Slow-Roasted
The Signature Alpine Menu
The main dining menu features a range of small plates and substantial mains designed for shared dining. We emphasize wood-fired cooking and slow-roasting techniques that bring out the natural flavors of our produce — a whole lamb shoulder cooked over manuka embers, trevally cured in sea salt and mountain herbs, root vegetables blistered in the embers until their skins char and their interiors turn sweet.
Our chefs take pride in presenting dishes that are visually striking while remaining grounded in traditional technique. A typical evening might move from cured fish and warm bread through to a shared main, finishing with a Central Otago stone-fruit dessert and a glass of late-harvest Riesling. The menu is written fresh each week and printed daily.
Curated Cellar
Central Otago Wine List
No dining experience in Queenstown is complete without a curated selection of local wines. Our cellar runs deep on Pinot Noir from nearby Gibbston Valley and Bannockburn — two subregions that produce distinctly different expressions of the same grape. Gibbston tends toward lighter, more perfumed wines with bright cherry and herbal notes, while Bannockburn delivers darker fruit, firmer tannins, and more structure for the table.
Alongside the Pinot, the list holds crisp Chardonnays from low-yielding vineyards, aromatic Rieslings that run from bone-dry to late-harvest, and a small selection of méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines from Central Otago producers. Our staff are trained to guide pairings — not by reciting tasting notes, but by asking what you enjoy and matching it to the food in front of you.
The cellar also keeps a short international list for guests who want something familiar, but the focus is unapologetically regional. Most bottles are available by the glass.
Cellar Highlights
Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir
Bright cherry, herbal perfume, fine-grained tannin. Pairs well with lighter game and wood-fired vegetables.
Bannockburn Pinot Noir
Darker fruit, firm structure, earth and spice. Built for slow-roasted lamb and richer mains.
Central Otago Riesling
Aromatic, mineral, ranging from dry to late-harvest. Cuts through rich dishes; finishes a meal well.
Méthode Traditionnelle Sparkling
Central Otago bubbly, crisp and bready. A natural opener or a match for cured fish and oysters.
The Rosemont Haven Bar
A Destination Bar
01 / 04
Our bar is a destination in its own right, specializing in classic cocktails and New Zealand craft spirits. Whether you prefer a perfectly balanced martini or a locally brewed ale, our bartenders provide a level of service that matches the boutique surroundings. The bar offers a more casual alternative to the dining room, with a light snacks menu available late into the evening.
Late Night
Late-Night Offerings
Catering to the guests of our on-site entertainment lounge, the bar provides a selection of late-night small bites and refreshments. The venue's energy continues long after traditional dinner hours, and our kitchen remains active to serve those who are still enjoying the evening.
From around 10 PM onward, the bar menu shifts to a shorter list of dishes built to travel easily from kitchen to bar to lounge: cured meats and cheese boards, warm bread with truffle butter, grilled flatbread, and a rotating daily special. The full dining room menu may not be available at this hour, but the standard remains the same.
If you are planning a late finish, let the bar staff know early — they can hold a table or have a specific bottle ready for when you return from the gaming lounge.
Intimate Gatherings
Private Dining & Special Occasions
For those seeking a more intimate experience, Rosemont Haven offers private dining options for small groups. Our dedicated events team can create a custom menu tailored to your preferences, making it a fitting setting for celebrations or business dinners.
These sessions are held in a secluded area of the restaurant, ensuring privacy for your guests. The private room seats up to twelve, with a dedicated server and the option of a paired wine flight chosen by our cellar manager. Menus are written in consultation with you ahead of the evening, and dietary requirements are handled in advance so nothing needs to be discussed at the table.
Booking is arranged through our events team rather than the standard reservation system, so we can discuss timing, menu, and any specific requests in detail.

The Dining Room
Interior Atmosphere
The dining room at Rosemont Haven features an open-plan design with comfortable leather seating and ambient lighting. Large windows provide a view into the heart of Queenstown, creating a connection to the town's energy without letting it overwhelm the room.
The space is designed to be both elegant and welcoming — suitable for a formal dinner or a relaxed drink. Seating ranges from banquettes along the window wall to individual tables in the center, and a chef's counter overlooking the pass for those who want to watch the kitchen work.
For Hotel Residents
Breakfast & Brunch
For hotel residents, we offer a comprehensive breakfast menu featuring both continental and cooked options. We prioritize high-quality coffee and fresh-pressed juices to help you start your day in the Alps.
Our breakfast service is a tranquil time in the venue, providing a peaceful environment before the day's activities begin. The room is quieter, the light different, and the menu built for sustenance rather than spectacle — though the coffee is taken seriously, and the pastries are baked fresh each morning.
